These were useful safety hints that I recently came across.
Keep your car keys with you when you go to bed at night if you have an alarm system installed in your car. You can also set of the car alarm system if someone breaks into your home.
It is a good idea to also keep your cell phone near you when you go to bed.
Wear or carry a whistle, especially if you walk or jog alone.
I was given a list of home remedies by a cousin. Most of the ingredients are commonly used around the home, especially in cooking, so they are safe to use. Many spices are known to have medicinal properties so I do not see that it will do any harm and it maybe worth trying. Of course it is up to you to decide if you would like to try them.
I have tried ginger with honey for coughs and it does work very well. Just use a tablespoon of crushed ginger to 4 tablepsoons of honey. Blend well and use about a teaspoon at a time.
Ginger tea is said to be very good to cure colds. Preparation of tea:
Add a gram of turmeric,(haldi) powder to a teaspoon of honey for curing a dry cough. Also chew a cardomom or 2.
For blocked nose or to relieve congestion, take a table spoon of crushed carom seeds (ajwain) and tie it in a cloth and inhale it.
Add a tea spoon of cumin seeds (jeera) and a few small pieces of dry ginger to a glass of boiling water. Simmer it for a few minutes, and then let it cool. Drink it twice daily. This is said to cure a cold as well as a sore throat.
Boil Ajwain/Carom in water and inhale the steam
Rub ginger paste on the backache to get relief
Chew 1-2 pods of garlic (lasan) first thing in the morning with water
Mix 1 table spoon honey, 1 table spoon ginger (adrak) juice, 1 table spoon crushed cumin seeds (jeera),blend & have it twice daily
For the cure of migraine or acute cold in the head; boil a tablespoon of pepper powder, and a pinch of turmeric in a cup of milk, and have it daily for a few days
Take a warm slice of lemon and sprinkle salt, sugar and black pepper on it. The lemon should be eaten until the hiccups stop.
